NEWS AND EVENTS

Dear Parishioners:

St. Matthew Church: After months of negotiations with the representatives from the Archdiocesan Building Commission (ABC), the contractor and engineer, the tower project will begin the next phase, by the end of the week. Details will follow.

Midnight Run: We need people to help make sandwiches or donate them, as well as volunteers who would be willing to accompany Mr. Moore on the monthly trips. If you are interested please contact the rectory secretaries.

Corpus Christi: This weekend we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi which is the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. The procession will begin on the front steps of the church immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass. We would like to thank Chief David Bloomer, and Lt. David Dosin of the Hastings Police Department in assisting us with the procession again this year.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have
no life in you; he who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up
at the last day." -- John 6:53, 54

Parish Picnic: Our annual picnic will be held on Sunday, June 14th, at MacEachron Park from 1-5 rain or shine. Please join us for a fun afternoon that is filled with faith and friends. There will be an air castle for the children as well as the dunk tank and relay races, and of course a 50-50. Please bring a lawn chair and sun block. Volunteers are needed to help set-up, cook and clean –up. There will be no charge for admission or food, but we will be taking a collection for the victims of the Italian Earthquake. If you are able to assist us on this most enjoyable day, please contact the rectory secretaries.

• Italian Victims Earthquake Fund: A fund has been set up by the Archdiocese to receive monetary donations for the relief efforts in the Abruzzo region. Checks can be made payable to the Italian Earthquake Victims Fund and sent directly to Monsignor William Belford, Chancellor, Archdiocese of New York, 1011 First Avenue, New York, NY 10022

• St. Matthew Altar Society: Last weekend the members of the Altar Society conducted their annual Attic and Bake Sale. We would like to thank them all for all of their hard work and dedication to the church. May God bless you all.
